Gothic Art
The Gothic art style was during the Medieval period of art where, the world had still not broken away from art being used for rituals or specified for religion. After this time during the Renaissance was when new ideas came about and gave art the mindset of expression and of beauty instead of being restricted. Though the Medieval Age was restricted to religion for painting, new forms of architecture, such as Gothic is still very beautiful in this day in age. Giorgio Valsari was the first to name this style gothic. Gothic was truly a result of an engineering challenge: how to span in stone ever wider surfaces from ever-greater heights? Before this building was very limited in design with the amount of windows, thickness of walls and height of the buildings. During 1100, builders experimented with different designs to buildings including the famous pointed gothic archways, flying buttresses, and stone ribs on buildings. All of these designs ultimately helped the architects build less limited structures (Gothic Art).
