Renaissance Art
The Renaissance was one of the most revolutionary time for art and many other things, and started in the 1300s in Italy and spread throughout Europe. The word "Renaissance" comes from Latin, meaning rebirth or reborn, of Greek and Roman culture and art. Overlapping with the Middle Ages, the Renaissance thinkers rebelled against strict ideas of age. Middle Age artist's and thinker's focus was strictly pleasing God, while the Renaissance thinkers wanted to think outside of the box in art with more realistic paintings and figures in a Greek and Roman style. One of the great artists was Antonio Allegri, who was born in Correggio, Italy 1489 (Renaissance Art).

Noli me tangere, Mary Magdalene, Jesus Christ 1534, Museo de Prado, Madrid
Antonio’s style reflects the Renaissance movement in many ways. The painting uses correct perception, with 3-D elements and figures. The color scheme like many other paintings use solid colors and a range of different values, which the Renaissance movement ultimately started. Though the thought of not focusing on religion was a idea of the movement, many painted scenes of the bible in a twist of Greek and Roman culture and setting then what the scenes would actually look like. The art was very realistic and lifelike, focusing on perception, 3-D imagery, more vibrant solid colors using oils and the introduction of values.
